Back again! Yes it's been a loooot of time. And many things have happened. Many, important and life changing. In short anyway, I am back in control. I lost it pretty badly in the last part of shitty 2010, so it's good to be back. For real. Life ain't any easier - but at least I can face it being myself.
This said...this post is a post about philosophy. The whole blog is about philosophy, since I find boring telling facts a bout what I do. My life is easily summed up: I study (much less now in electives), I work on my projects (an Iphone App, a book - yes it will take ages, but I am doing it!! - Energiachiara, trying to learn how to build a website and so on), I go to the gym, to play football, tennis, padel, I trade stocks with mixed success, I plan supertrips, I go out almost every day, I drink like a pig in weekends. So where's the fun in telling u that?
So...what do I mean?Well...now that I have seen a lot of this MBA and of the people attending it...I have to say that I am struck by the EXTREME diversity in here. Maybe too much - some people just probably should have been somewhere else.
Today anyhow, I must have been particularly inspired and my ideas solidified around two types of people that live on the opposite extremes of my scale of consideration: THE OBSCURE HERO and THE SHINING IDIOT.
What do I mean by these categories?
- THE OBSCURE HERO is someone who does things that are ordinary for many, but titanic for him or her. Be it for his poor family income, physical impairment or other strongly constraining factor, he nonetheless never gave up on trying to improve his condition, fought against adversities and kept smiling regardless of how people and events treat him or her. He/she comes from humble origins, yet never blamed destiny for that, but just worked harder. Is not naturally gifted with a superior feature to other, but his/her will is indomitable. His/her resolution firm. His/her energies vast. treats other well, is loyal and supportive, never betrays trust and gives more than what he/she receives
These are the people I admire the most. These are my role models. These are the people who not only will get the keys of paradise (if u believe in it of course) but will also get to more mundane rewards: career, people to trust on, appreciation of others, fulfillment They will have to give their best for that. But they will succeed, later rather than sooner, but they will
- THE SHINING IDIOT is the exact opposite. Nature gave him or her something clearly superior to others: be it beauty, richness, or the the mighty talent of charisma. They got all they had in life through that talent, and only because of that, without even recognising or worse, thinking they are good at a lot of things. They surround them with losers of some sort, adorers so blind and empty no one with a gram of brain would ever accompany himself with. They band in brainless packs, doing things they think are cool - while others mught argue their just...foolish. They do not care about others and always put themselves first, no matter the impact of their actions. At the end why care, than the only horizon they have is the short term, the instant benefit, simply because they are too stupid or too scared to think about the future.
These are the people that once disgusted me for their wasted potential, and that now I pity. Not only they will always an upwardly biased perspective of themselves, letting people around them speaking the worse things about them without even recognising it, but most likely they will run an empty life, shielded by their gift. Provided such gift will last...in lack of which they will collect what they seeded: nothing. And lacking the will to invest in any healthy interest or relationship, they will end up alone and empty...but will never admit that.
There are not many people like those. But they are, there outside. And the funny part is that...the hero does not know his value. The idiot monstrously overrate it
Why do I write this...well because there is some poetry in it. And because it fits well with my idea that "what goes around, comes around" - or in other words, time is a gentleman: every one will receive what he/she deserves. You just have to be patient...
